For the week of April 4 – April 10, 2016, U.S. brands captured 72.8 million total actions (likes and retweets) from tweets published on Twitter. Powered by Shareablee data, the top brand on Twitter for each respective industry is shown in the ranking below. Bleacher Report (Media Publisher) was the top brand in the ranking with nearly 1.4 million Twitter actions, followed by the NBA (Sports) with more than 606,000 Twitter actions. Bleacher Report’s top engaged tweets were led by reactions to the Villanova upset win over UNC during the NCAA Tournament. The NBA’s most engaged tweets were those honoring the 2016 Basketball Hall of Fame inductees Allen Iverson and Shaquille O’Neal.
Starbucks (QSR) claimed third place with nearly 85,000 actions and scored the highest actions per tweet among the Top Ten, driven by tweets showing its various drinks in the great outdoors. Nike Basketball (Sporting Goods & Apparel) experienced 1,288% growth compared to the previous week driven by a 2,586% increase in retweets. The most shared tweets celebrated Kobe Bryant ahead of his final game on April 13, or #MambaDay.
