HTC has announced that it will increase the price of its monthly Viveport Subscription on March 22. Here’s how to ensure you’re locked into the current tariff for the rest of 2018, if not longer.
The monthly cost of a Viveport Subscription will increase from £6.99 to £8.99 in the United Kingdom on March 22, though customers who sign up before the transfer date will be locked into the current price through at least the end of the year.
Viveport, for those unaware, is an on-demand VR platform, wherein customers are awarded a total of five tokens per month, which can be redeemed for five titles – be it premium applications, immersive games or even high-resolution videos.
HTC is awarding all Viveport subscribers a free game this month to counter any bitterness caused by word of the hike. It’s also announced that it will be hosting a number of exclusive promotions and discounts every month, effective immediately.

“Viveport Subscription has gained incredible momentum and traction among consumers as well as developers,” said Rikard Steiber, President of Viveport, in a statement issued to Trusted Reviews on Friday, February 16.
“We are always looking to support the developer community and with the subscription increase, developers will now be earning an additional ~22% from their title in the Subscription catalogue,” Steiber added.
The increase will take effect on March 22 across all the countries where Viveport is available – more than 60 regions. As we noted earlier, however, those who register before then will be locked into the current price until the end of 2018.
