CHINESE PHONE MAKER Huawei has quietly announced the P10 Lite, a cut-back version of its flagship smartphone that’s available now for £300.
The P10 Lite shares a lot of similarities to its flagship Huawei P10 sibling. You’ll find an octa-core processor under the hood (albeit a Kirin 658 chip, compared to the Kirin 960 inside the P10 and Plus), 4GB RAM and a 1080p Full HD display that’s slightly bigger than the flagship’s at 5.2in.
While it retains the same 8MP front-facing camera, the Huawei P10’s dual-lens Leica camera has been switched out for a lesser-spec 12MP single-lens offering.
The Huawei P10 Lite also boasts a similar design to its flagship sibling and will arrive crafted from the same high-end glass and metal meticals. However, the home button has been binned and the fingerprint scanner moved to the rear of the phone, similar to that found on last year’s Huawei P9.
Elsewhere you’ll find a 3,000mAh battery complete with support for fast charging, which Huawei . claims will give you 43 per cent battery charge in 30 minutes, and Huawei’s guff-filled EMUI 5.1 custom skin on top of Google’s Android 7.0 Nougat software.
The Huawei P10 Lite is also the firm’s cut-price smartphone to feature the firm’s Knuckle Sense technology, that allows you to tap your knuckle on the screen to activate shortcuts, such as taking a screenshot.
The phone has launched in black and gold colours, with Huawei promising that more options will be coming soon.
The Huawei P10 Lite is available to order now for £299 SIM-free, making it much more affordable than the £549 Huawei P10 and £649 P10 Plus.
It’s also available to pick up at EE from £30.99 per month, and will be coming to Carphone Warehouse and Vodafone soon. µ
