Indian smartphone manufacturer Micromax’s subsidiary YU has announced that the launch of its upcoming Yutopia smartphone has been delayed. The device, which was earlier scheduledto be unveiled on December 7, would now be launched on December 17. The announcement was made by YU’s CEO Rahul Sharma on Twitter.
As for the reason behind the delay, a company spokesperson said that in addition to the Yutopia, one more handset is lined up for launch, and the company didn’t want two separate launch events. It’s worth mentioning that invites for the December 7 launch event were already sent out.
Apparently, the delay is related to a recent Delhi High Court order restraining YU from importing and selling devices that infringe upon Ericsson’s patents until it pays royalties to the Swedish firm. For more details on the matter, head to the Via 2 link below.
