China’s dominant smartphone manufacturer, Xiaomi, is not selling its smartphones on the US market yet, but from the looks of it, the so-called Apple of China is doing better and better with each quarter that passes.
According to a newly-posted report, Xiaomi has shipped approximately 35 million handsets for the first half of 2015, effectively overshadowing its H1 2014 result of 26 million units shipped. For the last year alone, the so-called Apple of China succeeded in shipping a grand total of roughly 61 million smartphones, thus this year’s increase in sales hints that if Xiaomi keeps the momentum it might ship a record-breaking amount of phones by the end of the year.
The manufacturer is keeping its portfolio relatively lightweight – apart from refreshing its entry-level line with the Redmi 2, mid-range one with the Mi 4i, Xiaomi also has some really notable high-enders like the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro powerhouse. We are now expecting the Xiaomi Mi 5 to take the flagship reigns from the Mi 4 – there are a lot of conflicting rumors about this handset in question, as various rumors claim it will be announced later this summer with a Snapdragon 810 chipset on board, while others push its release all the way back to November, reportedly with a Snapdragon 820 SoC.
