Xiaomi launches its new 65-inch curved Mi TV 3S that boasts a 4K Samsung display in an insanely thin 0.23-inch metal build and in an equally unbelievable price tag of around $1,380.
Xiaomi unveiled the mammoth TV at an event in Beijing as the company’s latest addition to its growing TV 3S lineup. It comes with a Mi TV bar that has an independent 6-piece sound system along with support to both Dolby and DTS audio decoding.
Powered by Xiaomi’s MIUI Android interface, the new curved Mi TV 3S boasts 4,000:1 contrast, a viewing angle of 176 degrees and an NTSC color gamut coverage of 78 percent. It comes equipped with the 1.4 GHz quad-core Mstar 6A928 Cortex-A17 TV processor along with a 2 GB RAM and 8 GB of internal storage.
Other impressive features include Mali-760 MP4 GPU, a USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Ethernet, 2x dome tweeter and 4 x 2.5-inch woofer.
Xiaomi also announced a 43-inch variant of its Mi TV 3S, which comes with a 0.429-inch super-thin metal body and frame. Unlike its bigger sibling that comes with a 4K Samsung display, the 43-inch Mi TV 3S has a full-HD display with a pixel resolution of 1,920 x 1,080.
The 43-inch Mi TV 3S model is powered by Mstar 6A908 processor and a RAM of 1 GB. Similar to the bigger 65-inch version, it will also have an internal storage of 8 GB, support for Dolby DTS audio dual decoding and Android MIUI.
The latest TV model releases from Xiaomi clearly shows how the company is aggressively exploring other product making opportunities. For the past year, the company had shown an increasing interest in the TV and entertainment scenes. Last year, Xiaomi gained media attention after launching a 55-inch 4K Mi TV2 that is also powered by Android and priced at $800. This was followed by more TV launches that include the 70-inch 4K Mi TV3 ($1,534) and a Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition TV box ($61).
Both the new 65-inch and 43-inch Mi TV 3S models will launch in China on March 31. The 43-inch full HD TV model will be priced at $276. So far, Xiaomi made no mention if the new TVs will also have an international release.
