If you own a Sony Xperia device, and you’re wondering if it’s going to be officially updated to Google’s brand new Android 7.0 Nougat, Sony can now give you an answer. The company today revealed a list of smartphones (plus one tablet) that will certainly get Nougat at some point. Here’s the list, with devices shown in chronological order, from the oldest to the newest released:
- Sony Xperia Z3+
- Sony Xperia Z4 Tablet
- Sony Xperia Z5
- Sony Xperia Z5 Compact
- Sony Xperia Z5 Premium
- Sony Xperia X
- Sony Xperia XA
- Sony Xperia XA Ultra
- Sony Xperia X Performance (pictured above)
As you can see, the list curiously doesn’t include the Xperia E5 that was launched in June. However, Sony might add the handset to this select company sometime later.
At the moment, it’s not clear exactly when Sony will be ready to release Android 7.0 Nougat updates for the Xperia models listed above. But we’ll let you know as soon as we have new official info on this. Meanwhile, a limited number of Xperia X Performance owners in Europe can already test Android Nougat thanks to a beta program.
