Panasonic on Wednesday unveiled its latest P-series smartphone in India, the P90. The company says that the Panasonic P90 is powered by a MediaTek MT6737 SoC and comes with 1GB of RAM. The entry-level smartphone has been priced at Rs. 5,599 in the country. It has been launched in Black, Blue, and Gold colour variants. At this price point, the Panasonic P90 will be competing against handsets from Xiaomi and others. To recall, the company had recently launched another budget smartphone, the Panasonic P95, priced at Rs. 4,999.
The all new Panasonic P90 will be sold only via offline retailers. Pansonic has noted that the new smartphone will be available at all leading retail outlets starting today (June 20). One of the key features of the new Panasonic P90 is a multi-mode camera alongside Beauty mode, Panorama mode, Zero Shutter Delay, and more. The smartphone is also equipped with Smart Action and Smart Gestures features that are claimed to let the users access various functions on their handsets easily. Notably, the phone’s display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection to protect it from damage and scratches.
Pankaj Rana, Business Head, Mobility Division, Panasonic India said, “Post our association with Corning, we are happy to launch another P-series device, P90, with Corning Gorilla Glass protection which will keep the device protected from all damage and scratches. The stylish device is launched to target the youth, letting them explore the new innovation and technology.”
Panasonic P90 specifications
The dual-SIM (Micro) Panasonic P90 runs Android 7.0 Nougat. The smartphone sports a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) 2.5D curved glass display. It is powered by the quad-core MediaTek MT6737 processor clocked at 1.25GHz, paired with 1GB of RAM.
In terms of optics, the Panasonic P90 features a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, and an LED flash. At the front, the smartphone has a 5-megapixel selfie camera with LED flash.
The Panasonic P90 is equipped with 16GB of inbuilt storage, expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). Connectivity options in the smartphone include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, Wi-Fi, USB OTG, and FM radio. Sensors onboard are accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and proximity sensor.
Under the hood, the Panasonic P90 packs a 2400mAh battery. In terms of dimensions, the smartphone measures 143×71.8×9.3mm and weighs 151.7 grams.
