In a sign of Jeb Bush’s broad Hispanic outreach, his intensely private wife, Columba Bush, slowly started to raise her profile Friday by opening her own Twitter and Instagram accounts.
Columba Bush, using the handle @ColumbaBush, plans to reach out in English and Spanish to various segments of the nation’s Latino community, which has one of the highest rates of social-media use in the nation.

As with any political figure, the former Florida governor’s wife will update followers on public appearances and weigh in on issues important to her such as mental health, drug prevention and education, arts and reading and domestic violence. She’ll also likely add a few personal touches, such as her favorite recipes, a source familiar with the effort said. On occasion, she will directly post messages. Other times, a staffer might. Either way, she’ll have final say over what’s posted.
