Marriott just hatched a deal with Netflix to make your streaming account accessible from its hotel room. Forget boring channels! You’ve got House of Cards.
It’s pretty simple. In the Marriott TV interface, you’ll have the option to watch “internet TV.” You’ll need to login to use the service, but if you’re not a member, you can sign up for a 30-day trial. Netflix is currently available in a handful of locations: The New York Marriott East Side, San Jose Marriott, Princeton Marriott, Newport, Dallas/Fort Worth Marriott Solana Bethesda Marriott Suites. The company plans to expand the service to 100 hotels by the end of the year, and to some 300 by the end of 2016.
Traveling can be a real bore, especially if you’re stuck watching the measly free hotel cable. Netflix on your laptop provides some respite-assuming you pay for hotel Wi-Fi, and further assuming that said Wi-Fi is actually usable. So having Netflix built directly into Marriott’s TV interface option is a damn godsend
