Domestic consumer electronics giant Intex has recently launched its new smartphone called Intex Elyt E7. The Elyt e7 comes as another budget offering from Intex and looks well geared to take on the likes of Xiaomi, Nokia and Lenovo.
For a price of Rs 8,249, Intex Elyt E7 directly competes with Nokia 3 (Rs 9,499) and the 32GB variant of the Xiaomi Redmi 4 (Rs8,999). Just how much these USPs of the device help in your everyday smartphone usage, let’s find out in this review.
What’s cool?
Intex Elyt E7 certainly scores high in the design. The White colour of the smartphone looks decent in contrast with the Gold-coloured detailing done on the sides. Both power button and volume keys on the right are conveniently placed for single-handed operation. The squarish fingerprint sensor goes well with the camera module.

Talking about the display of the Intex Elyt E7, the 5.2-inch display has a resolution of 1,280×720 pixels and it also provides options to improve colours in the display settings. However, we will talk about the display quality in the next segment. The smartphone packs a 13-megapixel primary camera on the rear and a 5-megapixel front shooter for selfies.
The Intex Elyt E7 runs Android 7.0 operating system and is powered by 1.25GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737V processor with 3GB of RAM. It houses 32GB of internal storage and is expandable to 128GB with a microSD card. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, GPS, Bluetooth, FM and 4G and weighs 156 grams. The 4,020mAh battery in the Intex Elyt E7 provides enough backup for the whole day.
What’s not so cool?
When compared to the Xiaomi Redmi 4, the display quality of the Intex Elyt E7 falls short. The Intex Elyt E7 runs an entry level MediaTek MT6737 quad-core processor while the Redmi 4 is powered by a superior Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 octa-core chipset.

The 13-megapixel rear camera of Intex Elyt e7 is another major disappointment. While images clicked during daytime are decent but low light shots are not up to expectations from a smartphone priced at over Rs 8,000.
Verdict
While the Intex Elyt E7 appears to be a good choice on paper, the price of Rs 8,249 could be a deterrent. This is especially because the Nokia 3 and Xiaomi Redmi 4 among others offers a better overall ROI. Not to forget, both the Nokia 3 and Xiaomi Redmi 4 have got a strong offline presence as well.
