HTC’s U11 has been garnering mixed reviews from critics around the world. While some have criticised it for featuring thick-bezel display and a delicate build quality, others have praised its great audio performance and a good pair of cameras. Now, a new report will help HTC find more favour with its fans — the U11 is in line to get a Bluetooth 5.0 update.
According to a report from Ausdroid, HTC is planning to update its U11 with the latest Bluetooth standard. The report mentions a letter from HTC to FCC regarding rolling out a software update to the U11 for upgrading its Bluetooth 4.2 to Bluetooth 5.0. HTC says that the update will be only software dependent and none of the HTC U11’s out there in the wild will have to worry about any hardware changes. HTC will be rolling out the update on their own — no third party intervention in this process.
The U11 has what it takes to challenge the best in the expensive flagship smartphone category and updates like this will surely pull in more smartphone seekers to HTC’s doorstep. Of course, you would need to have Bluetooth 5.0 accessories with the U11 to utilise the benefits. Bluetooth 5.0 has a longer range than Bluetooth 4.2 and, if you are an audiophile, then you can even pair two Bluetooth speakers to make them work as stereo speakers.
The U11 features the unique ‘Edge Sense’ feature that enables the user to squeeze the side-frames to perform a specific task like open an app or switch on the flashlight. It is powered by this year’s most powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset along with 128GB of storage. The Indian version also comes with 6GB of RAM, which is enough to run multiple tasks with ease.
