Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’, while replying to the starred question in Rajya Sabha said that the deadline to submit suggestions on draft of New Education Policy is extended for a month i.etill July 31, 2019. The draft of New Education policy has been put on a public domain from May 31 this year and the deadline to submit suggestions from public was till June 30, 2019.

Suggestions recieved so far
The Minister informed that till date around fifty thousand suggestions/ comments have been received. He added that the deadline has been extended to invite more suggestions from public and all stakeholders and to increase participation in framing the policy.
The committee led by K Kasturiranganhassubmitted draft of New Education policy to Union HRD Minister Dr Ramesh Pokhriyalin New Delhi on May 31. The draft of New Education policy talks about the reforms in education system of the country and holistic development of all the students.

- To eliminate the shortage of manpower in science, technology, academics and industry
- The Draft National Education Policy, 2019 is built on the foundational pillars of Access, Equity, Quality, Affordability and Accountability.
Background work
For this, the MHRD initiated an unprecedented collaborative, multi-stakeholder, multi-pronged, bottom- up people-centric, inclusive, participatory consultation process.
The extensive consultations undertaken across multiple levels of online, expert and thematic, and from the grassroots ranging from village, block, urban local bodies, district, state, zonal and the national level, provided an opportunity to every citizen to engage in this massive exercise.
