Just as expected, Huawei’s online-only sub-brand Honor unveiled its latest smartphone today. The Honor V9 Play is a budget device that’s meant to appeal to price-conscious consumers, but it didn’t arrive alone – it brought along an even cheaper Honor 6 Play.

Honor V9 Play
This model is fitted with a 5.2-inch 720p touchscreen, a 13 MP f/2.2 rear camera with phase detection autofocus, an 8 MP selfie shooter, and a 3,000 mAh battery.
It’s powered by the MediaTek MT6750 chipset, which boasts a 1.5 GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T860MP2 GPU. The 32GB of built-in storage is expandable via microSD (though a hybrid dual-SIM slot is employed, so if you go that route you won’t’ be able to use two SIMs).
The rear-mounted fingerprint scanner can unlock the phone in 0.4 seconds. 4G LTE connectivity is supported. The device runs Android 7.0 Nougat with EMUI 5.1 on top. Its dimensions are 147.9 x 73.2 x 7.65mm, and it weighs 145g.
The Honor V9 Play will go on sale in China on September 12 in the colors you can see above. You’ll pay CNY 999 ($153 or €128 at the current exchange rates) for the version with 3GB of RAM, and CNY 1,199 ($183 or €153) if you want 4GB.
Honor 6 Play
This phone comes with a 5-inch 720p display, an 8 MP f/2.0 rear camera, a 5 MP f/2.4 selfie snapper, and a 3,020 mAh battery. It’s powered by MediaTek’s MT6737T chipset, with a 1.4 GHz quad-core Cortex-A53 CPU and Mali-T720MP2 GPU.
The handset has 2GB of RAM and 16GB of expandable storage, and runs EMUI 4.1 atop Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The lights are kept on by a 3,020 mAh battery. Its dimensions are 143.8 x 72 x 8.85mm, and it weighs 150g.
