HMD Global may have turned the fortunes of Nokia in less than a year of its establishment. If reports are to be believed, the Finnish company has sold over ten lakh handsets during the brief period alone.
As per a report in tech blog Digit, the claim was made by the company’s Chief Marketing Officer Pekka Rantala. The report said that the CMO had stated in an interview, that the company successfully sold over ten lakh Nokia branded smartphones while adding that it is still a long way from meeting supply requirements on par with the demand.
The numbers put forward by the Finnish firm has also been substantiated further by the large numbers of Nokia Mobile Support Apps that are being installed from the Google Play Store. The report indicates that the number of downloads has been anywhere between ten lakh to fifty lakh. These numbers indicate that the company has, in fact, become successful in rejuvenating the Nokia brand.
Established in December 2016, HMD Global had secured the rights to manufacture, market and sell Nokia branded smartphones for ten years.
The company has already launched several Android-run smartphones under the Nokia brand name, including its flagship model Nokia 8.
