What could be more annoying than having to pay a small fortune for a smartphone that stops working when you need it most? Many consumers who have bought the Xperia X Performance noticed that sometimes, more often than not, their phone’s accelerometer stops working.
Even though they have complained on the Japanese company’s support forums, their pleas have not been heard until recently. Apparently, Sony has been able to replicate the issue and promised to provide users with a software fix very soon.
Unfortunately, the handset maker did not confirm any release dates for the upcoming fix, so your guess is as good as ours. Until the software fix hits Xperia X Performance smartphones, there’s one workaround you can use to try and re-enable the phone’s accelerometer.
According to Sony, if the accelerometer stops responding, you should try to restart your Xperia X Performance and hope that will fix the issue, at least temporarily.
I’d like to say thanks to everyone who send us logs of this and again apologize for any inconvenience this is causing. I’ve just received information that a new software update will be available shortly with a solution for this. Until the new software update is available, if the accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer, ambient light, proximity sensor, barometer or screen rotation stops responding, please try to restart the phone as a workaround.
Here is hoping that Sony will deliver the promised software fix for Xperia X Performancesooner rather than later. We’ll update the news once the update is released, so stay tuned.
