Reliance Industries Ltd. recently revealed that it shipped 2 million LYF-branded VoLTE-enabled smartphones till date. Now the company has launched yet another smartphone in the LYF Water series, dubbed the LYF Water 8. Similar to the brand’s previous devices, the LYF Water 8 offers 4G LTE connectivity along with VoLTE (voice over LTE) support, which is an essential requirement for the upcoming Jio network. Worth mentioning that the Jio 4G network is currently in the trial phase, and all LYF phones are being bundled with a free SIM that offers unlimited voice and data usage for three months.
In terms of specs, the LYF Water 8 offers a 5-inch AMOLED HD display bearing a pixel density of 294ppi. The phone utilises a 1.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, aided by 3 gigs of RAM. The storage on board is 16GB, which users can further increase up to 64GB by inserting a microSD card. The camera features include a 13MP rear snapper with autofocus and an LED flash, and a 5-meg selfie shooter. Apart from 4G LTE and VoLTE, it offers dual-SIM slots, Wi-Fi, VoWiFi, Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS. The phone is fuelled by a 2,600mAh battery, which promises to deliver up to 10 hours of talk time and up to 320 hours of standby time.
Software-wise, the LYF Water 8 boots Android 5.1 Lollipop. The phone has been priced at Rs 10,999, and is available via Reliance Digital stores across the country.
