Lenovo has finally started sending out invites for the launch of the next-generation Moto 360 smartwatch, which has been leaked on several occasions in the recent past. The launch event is scheduled to take place on September 8 in Shanghai, China.
The invitation sent by Lenovo shows a bold text on top stating ‘It’s time’ slogan followed by an image showing one-half of the next-gen Moto 360 smartwatch. The new design with external lugs and the crown placed at the 2 o’clock position can be also seen, both features that have been tipped several times. No other details have been given by Motorola’s parent company for now.
Although Lenovo has not mentioned any details on the smartwatch in the invitation, the device has already been leaked several times online. A tipster recently tweeted images of the next-generation Moto 360 ‘Sport’ version. The new variant is said to arrive in Black, White and Orange rubber bands and would as a fitness tracker let users know about the time taken, miles covered, speed, and even blood pressure per minute during activities. The new Moto 36 would also feature a “Hybrid Display optimised for outdoor use”, have 3ATM (atmospheres) water resistance, GPS and barometer.
Design-wise, the Sport version is seen featuring no external lugs as seen in metal versions or in the invitation. The band merges with the smartwatch’s body, while a separate dial is visible on the side.
Also to be seen is if the upcoming Moto 360 would arrive in two different sizes or not. As per the recent leaks, the smaller version of the metal – based next-gen Moto 360 would sport a 1.37-inch display, 42mm body, and 20mm band, while the larger version would feature a 1.55-inch display, 46mm body and 22mm band. Images of the two smartwatches with leather and metal bands were also leaked. Another anticipated revelation is whether the new Moto 360 would retain the flat tire design of UI.
