After Micromax, it is now Xolo’s turn to churn out an online brand called “Black”. The first device under this series will be priced under Rs 15,000 and will be available exclusively through the online retailer Flipkart.
From the earlier leaks, we have come to know that the device will come with dual-rear cameras and run on Xolo’s customized version of Hive OS.
It is noteworthy, that Xolo is a sub-brand of Lava International, so why did the company think of getting another new brand. Well, according to news agency, PTI, XOLO has launched Black series to cash in on the increasing consumer comfort for buying handsets online.
“At XOLO, we have always focused on building a strong digital presence. Even now, XOLO has 20-22 per cent of the total sales coming from online channels. Introducing an ‘online-only’ sub-brand is a natural progression for XOLO, catering to the experience-seeking online customers,” XOLO Business Head Sunil Raina told the PTI.
Going forward the company plans to add one device every quarter under its Black range of devices and the entire portfolio of devices will be LTE-ready.
From the looks of it, the first smartphone from Xolo Black will have to compete head on with Micromax Canvas Knight 2. Also at this point in time, the competitors in the game have marched quite ahead of Xolo and it will be interesting to see what tactics will the company adopt to catch up
